Finally got some rest and today it's hitting me what I just did. I just took a teenager and road tripped across Texas. I was very nervous at first. I almost backed out of it. I haven't road-tripped without my husband since I've been married. Would we be safe? What if the car broke down? What if my kid hates it? What if we get so behind in school that it's too hard to catch up. All my insecurities were screaming at me. But I went anyway. We didn't do anything particularly glamorous or educational. It was a lot of driving, visiting friends and seeing a new landscape. But now that I'm home I'm realizing the gravity of what we did. I showed my daughter that adventure is something you pursue, not something you wait to land in your lap. I showed her that daunting things can tackled one mile at a time. I showed myself that I still have the ability to take on risks and challenges. I'm really proud of myself...I don't mind saying that. I want to encourage all of you...you still have what it takes to do the hard things. We are living in hard times, but don't underestimate yourself. Don't be afraid to challenge yourself (or your children). You've done hard things before. You've overcome hard things before. And you've become a better person for doing so. Whatever challenge is in front of you that you're avoiding right now, stop and evaluate. Ask yourself, "What's the worse that can happen here and could I survive that? What's the best that could happen here and would that enrich me?" Write it down if you have to - sometimes seeing it on paper takes the wind out of the fear. Remind yourself of the things you've done in the past that have been huge challenges but have been rewarding. You are still that person. You are still a learner, still an adventurer. Whatever the thing is that you're hesitating on, let me encourage you today. You absolutely have what it takes to do it. You are powerful and you do not have to be ruled by fear. Go do that thing. You have what it takes. I promise you.

“At my funeral I want to have 2 Falcons, 2 Braves and 2 Georgia Bulldogs as my pallbearers, so they can let me down one last time.”
💔 😫 🤣
@KiraDavis saw your tweet about the foster care / adoption “business”. I will try to come back later and tell you my personal story with the foster care system. It’s a disaster.
