I want to post something nice and positive on my FB feed urging people to take heart, to be comforted that there will be another election no matter who wins, and that we will all get up and go to work the day after we find out just like we did 4 years ago and 4 before that...but even just to say that ignites rage posts. This is the rotten fruit of marxism...if you are not vocally opposed you are a part of the problem and if you choose to look at a silver lining it's because you're a heartless idiot. This is what I struggle with the most, and I know most of you do as well, because I get a lot of responses from you about that. It's why I'm always saying that even though it sucks, even though it's not fair, YOU are the only one who can offer peace, and that means you/we have to be the first to offer grace. We're dealing with so many people who have become so fearful of competing ideas that they feel their rage is a moral obligation. I don't really know how to defeat that very sad mindset except to always offer grace, always be the one to offer to find that middle ground, always be the one to offer to LISTEN even if what you're hearing sounds stupid as hell. We have to meet unhinged fear with peace. We have to learn to read between the lines, to really HEAR what people are afraid of. And that sucks, because we can't even post a lovely call to civility and comfort on our timelines for fear of getting our heads bitten off by the true believers. 🤷
