I know it's a thick book. Don't feel pressure to get it finished (I know I need to schedule our book club zoom soon. Haven't forgotten!) but definitely indulge in as much as you can because it is pretty amazing. Some things never change. This guy is writing about the newspaper era and everything he says could be applied to the digital era. Which is sad because we've all had this fantasy in the past that if people just had more access to free information we'd all be more informed. But instead we are even less informed, it seems. We went from strangled information to an overload of information and both extremes are vulnerable to manipulation. Our public opinions are formed by this manipulation. It's just so amazing how in 2021 we are still all basically victims of the "telephone game" .
